How to Access Google Maps on Nokia N900 with GPS & Zoom Functionality

Nokia N900 is an excellent Internet Tablet running on Maemo/Meego OS. But on drawback of this device is that, it does not have an official Google Maps App. But you can still browse Google Maps on Nokia N900. Just follow the steps below :

Tutorial :

  1. Firstly, download maemo geolocation v1.1.3 . It is a plugin/extension for MicroB web browser.
  2. Then visit, http://www.google.com/maps/m on your N900 with MicroB.

Moreover, if you want to add Zoom Functionality i.e., +- sign on Google Maps, then you can follow the below steps :

  1. Download this file.
  2. Then, make a new directory on your N900 and call it whatever you like.
  3. Unzip or move the two files found in this archive named "Gmaps.htm" and "zoom.htm" to this new directory on your N900.
  4. Disconnect.
  5. Cruise on over to this new directory using the N900's file manager.
  6. Click on "Gmaps.htm" and it should open in the N900's browser with a frame on the right side of the page that will zoom in (+) or zoom out (-) when a "+", "-", or an incremental "*" is clicked on the right side of the page.
  7. Save as "Add to bookmarks" and/or "Add shortcut to desktop",

That's all, now you can use Google Maps on your Nokia N900 Internet Tablet with full functionality. If you're confused in any of the steps above, then feel free to leave a comment.
